Slaves and Sailors: A Collection of Poetry for Lost and Tethered Souls is a collection of poetry written between 2016 and 2020.

I wrote these poems while going through various heartbreaks, bouts of depression, anxiety, loneliness, isolation, despair, and a few moments of happiness.

My attempt was to viscerally capture universal feelings of my experience of life in various emotional states and comment on the unfortunate state of the world while still letting some hope shine through.

The metaphor of slaves and sailors is first and foremost a nod to the sea and its beauty and danger, as well as a metaphor for the symbolic chains we all wear and are sometimes able to cast off. I believe that we are all slaves and we are all sailors in various moments in life. Within us is a desire to be “free as falling rain” but this freedom always comes at a price.

So, go pour a glass of wine or just drink directly from the bottle of whiskey and let yourself be wrapped in my words and world for a few moments.
